Kamaka’Ike Bruecher – Māhina 2018

Kamaka’Ike Bruecher, was a student trainee in the 2018 Māhina program.

Aloha mai. I was born and raised in Ballard, Seattle on Duwamish land. I acknowledge my ancestors from Eastern and Northern Germany, Hakka from South China, and my matrilineage from the village of Miloliʻi in Kona Hema, Hawaiʻi. I currently study Public Health and Medical Anthropology at the University of Washington, Seattle. In my journey back into my Hawaiian knowledge and identity, I look forward to returning to my islands to serve and continue my studies.

Māhina is supported by funding from the National Institute of Minority Health and Health Disparities of the National Institutes of Health under Award Number T37MD008625-01.
