IWRI at American Indian Higher Education Consortium Meeting
Staff from IWRI attended the American Indian Higher Education Consortium’s 33rd Annual Spring Conference in Billings, Montana March 15-18, 2014. The conference brings together students, staff, faculty and community members from Tribal Colleges and Universities (TCU) across the nation. IWRI staffed a table at the conference and provided information about our projects, as well as general information about the University of Washington.
Additionally, the Center for Indigenous Health Research team presented information on two research studies, the TCU Alcohol, Drugs and Mental Health Epidemiologic Behavioral Wellness Study and the TCU Behavioral Health Adaptation of an Evidence-Based Intervention Study to the AIHEC board and TCU presidents during the executive meetings. Both of these studies will be launched in fall of 2014. As part of the TCU BASICS Intervention study, the team also conducted a focus group with students to gather feedback on the materials and content of the proposed study. Several of the team members stayed for the student meetings to talk with students, faculty and administration about the upcoming studies and how it might benefit their TCU.
