COVID-19 Native Health Survey
Native American COVID-19 Alliance’s COVID-19 Indigenous needs assessment survey (CINAS):
This survey is a unique attempt to ensure that Native Peoples’ experiences are represented, considered, and championed as we move through the COVID-19 pandemic.
This assessment was developed and led by a team of Native researchers from: Indigenous Wellness Research Institute at University of Washington; University of Hawaii- Department of Native Hawaiian Health; University of Michigan, University of California, Berkeley and the Empire Health Foundation.
The assessment is conducted in partnership with: The Kalispel Tribe of Indians Camas Path American Indian Community Center Healing Lodge of Seven Nations, Spokane Tribal Network, Spokane Tribe of Indians Health and Human Services, Colville Tribes Health and Human Services, Rising Strong, and Empire Health Foundation.
This assessment is affiliated with and supported by: Alliance of National Psychological Associations for Racial and Ethnic Equity’s Covid-19 Needs Assessment Group, which was championed and commissioned by Congressional tribal and Tri-Caucus leaders and funded in part by the National Urban League and the Empire Health Foundation.
Why is this study being done/What are the benefits? To ensure that our Native voices are included in any tribal, national or congressional planning and response efforts to the COVID-19 pandemic; to raise our collective voices and share how the COVID-19 pandemic is impacting our families and communities; to identify what has and will help us cope with and get through this pandemic. YOUR voice, COVID-19 experiences, and needs are critical to formulating solutions and policies to address this pandemic in Native communities.
We will publish the results and create a report to be widely shared among Native communities, leadership, grassroots organizations, as well as among Congressional leaders, national policymakers, and health officials.
As a thank you for your time and participation: You will have a chance to enter a raffle for 50 prizes valued from $25-$300. Your responses to the survey cannot be linked to the raffle. For a list of prizes and prize-drawing rules visit the prize-drawing page.
Why am I being asked to be in this study? As a Native person in the Empire Health Foundation service area, your voice matters. This is a study by and for Native People. Your voice and experience are critical to creating culturally relevant COVID-19 policies and practices.
What will I be asked to do in this study? Answer questions about how COVID-19 has affected you, your family, and your community; what cultural strengths helped you in the face of COVID-19, and what needs and priorities must be addressed. The survey takes about 25 minutes to complete.
Participation in this survey is completely voluntary. If there are any questions that you feel uncomfortable answering, feel free to skip that question and leave the answer blank. The survey is anonymous, so that means we will NOT collect your name or any information that can identify you personally.
