Clear Sky Native Youth Council gifts IWRI
In June 2016, IWRI received a gift of appreciation from the Clear Sky Native Youth Council, associated with the Urban Native Education Association. Drawing from greater North Seattle, Clear Sky is made up of both middle school and high school Native students, along with their adult mentors and other volunteers. Its goals are to foster academic achievement and to offer cultural Indigenous learning experiences for urban Native youth. In recognition of the continuing support IWRI has provided for its annual Native Youth Conference and its Rites of Passage Graduation Ceremony, Clear Sky Native Youth Council gifted IWRI with a print of a painting depicting several traditional versions of Eagle. On hand to receive the gift was IWRI data manager, Anita Rocha, who has been volunteering as a mentor to youth at Clear Sky. Folks at IWRI were deeply honored to receive this beautiful gift, and the print is now prominently displayed in its main meeting room.
