New Horizons for IWRI Staff

On September 27, 2016, the IWRI family celebrated with four dedicated staff members who will take what they learned at IWRI to new, exciting ventures. Photo from left to right:

• Teresa (Tess) Abrahamson-Richards, Spokane Tribe, Master of Public Health, joined IWRI as a student research assistant in October 2012 and as a Research Coordinator in October 2014 working for Dr. Bonnie Duran’s Tribal Colleges and Universities studies. Tess accepted a telecommuting research associate position with James Bell Associates on the Tribal Maternal Infant and Early Childhood Home Visitation evaluation team.
• Caitlin Donald, Osage Nation / Ponca Tribe of Oklahoma, Master’s in Social Work, joined IWRI in 2014 as a research coordinator for the Ethics Training for Health in Indigenous Communities Study (ETHICS) study and the Virtual Two-Spirit study. Caitlin returned to hometown Portland, Oregon, as program manager for the Center for Healthy Communities, funded by the CDC. The Center collaborates and partners with Native communities to explore and address health disparities.
• Tetana Adkins, Colville Confederation of Tribes, Master of Science in Healthcare Administration, joined IWRI in 2010 as Administrative Director and worked on Yappalli, Native Youth Enrichment Program, and Elders in Residence projects. Tana started the Master’s in Social Work Day Program at the UW as full-time student in Fall 2016.
• Anastasia Ramey, Turtle Mountain Band of Chippewa descent, Master’s in Social Work, joined IWRI in 2010 as a student, and then a staffer occupying several roles, including as Program Manager for the Indigenous Substance Abuse, Medicines and Addictions Research Training (ISMART) program. Anastasia is in her second year of the Master’s of Science in Nutrition program at Bastyr University, Kenmore, Washington.
