Dr. Alvarez has been an Assistant Professor in the School of Social Work, Portland State University, since 2019. Her research interests include health and health disparities in Indigenous and minority communities, including racial/ethnic minority communities as well as sexual orientation/gender identity minority communities. Dr. Alvarez practices arts-based, qualitative, and community-driven research and evaluation.
