Anitra Hill – Māhina 2018

Anitra Hill, was a student trainee in the 2018 Māhina program.

I am a member of the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe. Over the summer, I spent two months in New Zealand studying under Maori and Pacific researchers, learning about the difficulties their in indigenous communities. Many of these difficulties like our own; obesity, drug addiction, malnutrition, just to name a few. I hope to use what I learned from these indigenous researchers to find ways to help my tribe. A way that is by Lakota, for Lakota.

Māhina is supported by funding from the National Institute of Minority Health and Health Disparities of the National Institutes of Health under Award Number T37MD008625-01.
